Three Nollywood actresses: Mercy Johnson, Uche Jombo and Damilola Adegbite are reportedly pregnant with two of them expecting their first babies. Nollywood star Mercy Johnson is reportedly expecting her second child. The actress is four months pregnant, according to blogger Linda Ikeji. The actress and husband Prince Okojie welcomed their first child, Purity, in December 2012. Next pregnant lady is Uche Jombo. The actress who recently relocated to the US to spend time with her husband Kenny Rodriguez is said to be expecting baby number one, according to Bella Naija. Uche Jombo who tied the knot back in 2012 is currently working on new movies from her company, UJ Studio Productions. And the last but not the least is actress Damilola Adegbite. The pretty young lady who’s madly in love with Ghanaian hunk Chris Attoh is also reported to have been pregnant. It is possible their scheduled April 12 engagement ceremony has now been postponed till after she delivers her child.

Nollywood top act and Glo ambassador, Funke Akindele has come out to squash the rumour making rounds that she has found a new lover, who has rented a secluded apartment for her in Lekki area of Lagos. The news was actually broken by City People magazine and it went viral online within minutes of its publication. The actress who made her stand known through her publicist, Entertainment Media Limited, said she was shocked and surprised when she read the spurious report, saying nothing of such ever happened. According to her, the Lekki apartment which was purportedly rented by the mysterious lover was actually rented on her bill. She also put foot to the claims that there is a plan to reconcile her with her ex husband, Kehinde Oloyede who announced their divorce through the social media last year.

A-list Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo, is an alien in Nigeria, but a legal alien who has been in the country far too often, to know his way around. THE World Bank President,  Jim Yong Kim, yesterday, at the ongoing IMF/World Bank Spring Meetings restated that Nigeria is one of the top five countries that has the largest number of poor. Nigeria, he said ranked third in the world while India ranked number one with 33 per cent of the world poor. China is ranked second with 13 per cent of the world’s poor, followed by Nigeria where seven per cent of the world poor live in. He said that Bangladesh has six per cent share of the world’s poor while the Democratic Republic of Congo has five per cent of the world’s poor population. Jim Yong Kim said these five countries are home to 760 million of the world’s poor, adding that another five countries, Indonesia, Pakistan, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Kenya would encompass almost 80 per cent of the extreme poor. Ogun State Police command, alongside the special Anti Robbery Squad, Lagos Command, have jointly arrested five suspects in Joju area of Otta in Ado Odo Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State with human heads and flesh in pieces. The discovery was said to have been as a result of a follow up on a tip off from the people of the area yesterday. The suspects arrested include Kubura Salami, Tantolorun Abimbola, Kafaya Popoola, Wahid Ibrahim and Adamu Rafiu. Divisional Police Officer in charge of Otta Division of the command, CSP Gabriel Idibie, led a team of operatives to assist the SARS Lagos who got the first hand information to Joju area where the five suspects were arrested and the exhibits recovered for further investigation and adequate prosecution. The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a 20-year-old man, Ngwuta Nweke, for allegedly killing his friend in their apartment in the Sawmill area of Ebute Meta. According to the police, the suspect strangled Emeka James during an argument over a cooking pot on March 22, 2014. Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said, “On the fateful day, around 12.30pm, Nweke strangled James who lived in an apartment at Kadara slum, close to Sawmill, Ebute Meta, during a fight over a cooking pot. “The corpse has been deposited at the Mainland Hospital Mortuary, Yaba, while the matter is under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.” The suspect, however, told the police that he did not mean to kill his friend, but only strangled him in a bid to overpower him in a free fight. One of the members of a robbery gang which specialised in using motorcycles to rob at petrol stations got instant justice recently when a mob, in anger, ripped open  his stomach with a knife at Alakia area of Ibadan, Oyo State, when it caught up with him after a robbery operation.  His gang member and the okada man he used were not spared either,  as they were beaten black and blue before they were rescued by policemen from Monatan Division. Two locally-made pistols and two live cartridges were found on the unidentified deceased gang member.
