Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido lashed out at the Jonathan administration for what he called its failure to address Nigeria’s ills. He described the leadership as “totally disconnected with the people”, saying “all its policies are formulated in parallel with the needs, plight and interest of the common man and the country.” Lamido also condemned the National Conference, the government approach to the Boko Haram killings and abandonment of projects in his state, among others. He spoke in Dutse, the state capital, at the weekend while receiving a delegation of the Bank of Agriculture. It was led by Managing Director Dr. Falalu Santuraki. The delegation, which praised Lamido’s support for agriculture, proposed a N1billion minimal interest loan to support irrigation for farmers at the Hadejia Valley, with minimal interest. Fuel scarcity to persist till mid-April !

Image
The fuel shortage that has engulfed the country in the past one month may not improve until the middle or end of April as many marketers are currently finding it difficult to finance the import allocations they recently got from the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency. Our correspondent gathered on Sunday that a significant number of the independent marketers, who got import allocations from the PPPRA, were finding it difficult to finance them as banks had refused to raise Letters of Credit for them. Though the Federal Government still owes the marketers substantial subsidy claims, many of those affected, who are considered small, are said to lack the financial muscle to attract more loans from the banks without paying what they currently owe. “The marketers are facing financial challenges because they are finding it difficult to finance their import allocations. The supply situation may not improve until the middle of April; and if care is not taken, it may last ...
