HOW TO COMMUNICATE BETTER IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP

Image
Communication can make or break a relationship. If you're in a place where your relationship is hanging by a thread, communication can probably save it. Communication goes beyond discussing routine superficial topics and helps people connect at a deep emotional level. If you constantly feel like  your partner doesn't get what you're saying or that you don't understand him/her, then it probably means that you need to have a second look at how well you're communicating. Why You Need to Stop Arguing and Start Listening Many a times, discussions escalate to arguments in relationships. It is natural to want to get your point across during a debate, but it is equally important to listen to what the other person is saying. If both sides continue arguing with a narrow-minded approach, it is as good as nothing being said. The next time you're in the middle of an argument, stop and give sometime to listen to what they're saying. Your partner will note th...

The last thing a 3-year-old Syrian said before he died: “I’m gonna tell God everything”

Image
This picture is haunting and it’s been floating around the internet with the sentence: The last sentence a 3-year-old Syrian said before he died: “I’m gonna tell God everything” And that’s equally haunting.  It’s impossible to verify but the picture tells a story about the pain and suffering that exists in Syria right now.  There are many in the media who would like to say this is because president Bashar al-Assad is a ruthless killer.  And that’s half true.  Like other government leaders – he has engaged in war and with that war has come the death of tens of thousands and the displacement of over 1 million Syrians now living in refugee camps. But this hasn’t always been the case.  This is the inevitable result of a covert war being waged by the U.S., Israel and other Sunni countries like Qatar and Saudi Arabia.  Our interests in taking down the Syrian dictator al-Assad are all about geo-politics.  If we take out Syria – we neuter Iranian i...

WOW!!! Woman weaves clothes out of her own hair

Image
Labour of love: Xiang Renxian weaving her husband a hair hat (Picture: HAP/Quirky China News/REX) It may sound like a hair-brained scheme but Xiang Renxian from China has created clothes using locks from her own head. The retired teacher has spent the past 11 years weaving a cardigan and hat made from strands collected in her hairbrush since she was 34. ‘Many people envy my long, shiny black hair so I wanted to keep them, even the dropped threads,’ said Ms Xiang from Chongqing. For the cardigan she used 15 pieces of hair as one strand of standard ‘wool’ and 20 pieces for the hat. Ingenious: Xiang Renxian’s cardigan made out of hair (Picture: HAP/Quirky China News/REX) It was a true labour of love as it took her almost five years to complete the bulk of the cardigan and three years to create the hat. And when she decided to weave her name on the cuffs of the coat in a contrasting shade she had to wait for enough grey hairs to accumulate to complete the task. Ms Xiang is ...

Govt Shutdown Directive Stays Until Jonathan Calls Mbu To Order – APC

Image
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked the Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku to look inwards if he is earnestly searching for people who are anti-people and anti-development, and to ask President Goodluck Jonathan why he is finding it difficult to allow peace to reign in Rivers State. The opposition party was reacting to a statement credited to the minister on Wednesday shortly after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting, that APC’s directive to its members in the National Assembly to block all Executive Bills until normalcy is restored in Rivers State, was anti-national interest and an attempt to endanger democracy. In a statement issued in Lagos on Thursday by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party accused the Maku of engaging in an emotional outburst that is devoid of reason or logic. It urged the Minister to realize that anytime he points one finger at others, four other fingers are pointing back at him. “It is i...

Nigeria2015: No going back on February 14 presidential election – INEC

Image
The INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega, on Thursday in London, said there was no going back on the February 14 date fixed for the 2015 Presidential and National Assembly elections. “When we fix dates for elections, we stick to them and do not just make changes except something bad happens. In 2011, we had some challenges with the National Assembly elections and  had to move it forward by one week. But in 2015 general elections, the dates have been fixed and we do not intend to make changes. We are not prepared as a body to conduct all elections in one day, that is why we are starting with two categories for now,” he said He said the Commission  looked at best global practices before fixing the Presidential and National Assembly elections on the same day. The Gubernatorial and State Assembly would also take place simultaneously on the same day. He also said that the continuous voters’ registration exercise would hold from June to September this year to enable those who ha...

2015: Election timetable not to favour Jonathan – INEC

Image
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has flayed the recent statements attributed to Governor Alhaji Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State and a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, over the 2015 general elections. While Governor Kwankwaso was quoted to have said that the timetable for the election was drawn to favour President Goodluck Jonathan, the ex-Minister had threatened that “blood will flow” if the 2015 election is not conducted under a free and fair atmosphere. Reacting to their comments, INEC’s Director of Media Affairs, Nick Dazang, told newsmen in Abuja yesterday that the comments by both personalities were unfortunate. He said, “The 2015 timetable and schedule of activities recently released by the INEC is informed by the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) and the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended). “It is not intended to favour any candidate or political party. 10 Mind-Blowing Facts About The Brain

Image
1 The Brain Feels No Pain "Relax, this won't hurt a bit..." There are receptors in the brain. That's why surgeons can perform brain surgery on a patient why they are still awake. This helps them ensure that the delicate procedure doesn't screw up any vision or motor control functions – and also it looks really freaky. Why do we feel pain? Because a nociceptor, a sensory receptor, sends signals to the spinal cord and brain alerting us to danger. Couldn't they just send a card? 2 100,000 Miles of Blood Vessels in the Brain There are also a hundred billion neurons that comprise the brain – as many as in the entire galaxy – all in a squishy mass about the size of a  cantaloupe . Using about 17% of your body's energy and 20% of its oxygen, while only containing 2% of its mass, the brain produces between 10-23 watts of power when awake -- enough to light a bulb. Made of 75% water, your noodle has over 100 trillion synapses that connect tho...
