Ice Prince commends Clarence Peter for jacking video Don’t call my daughters sexy – says Omotola Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has warned Nigerian bloggers not to refer to her daughters as sexy, threatening to bring erring bloggers to book. The blogosphere on Tuesday got fired up with pictures of Omotola’s second daughter, Meraiah, with some blogs calling the teenager “hot” and “sexy.” Omotola took to her Facebook page to express her displeasure. “Thank you to everyone who wished Meraiah a happy birthday. However, going to a 14 year old’s “private” online account to post her pictures for public viewing is totally Inappropriate. Her father and I are horrified as parents and guardian that a minor’s picture can be paraded online as hot” ,”sexy” etc…” she wrote. Why Boko Haram menace persists, ex-Nigerian Army chief, Ihejirika, says

Image
A passing out parade was held for Mr. Ihejirika The immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Azubuike Ihejirika, has blamed Nigeria’s porous borders as one of the reasons for the insurgency in the North-East. The Nigerian military is battling the outlawed Boko Haram in the north eastern part of the country. Mr. Ihejirika, a Lieutenant General, said this during his Valedictory Speech at a parade in his honour to mark his exit from the Nigerian Army. He was removed as Army Chief by President Goodluck Jonathan in January, during a purge that affected other service chiefs. “We must realise that the world is passing through an increasingly volatile and uncertain 21st century and our situation in Nigeria had been made complex by regional and transnational threat,” he said. “This is further accelerated by information technology, desertification, international migration across the borders, and competition for scarce resources, weapon proliferation and several unresolved ethno-rel...

Valentine’s Day: Single or Coupled, It’s Up To You To Make It Rock

Image
Sixty two percent of adults say they celebrate Valentine’s Day, both single and coupled adults. The holiday comes with added stress if you are single and want to live up to the hype of romance and love. Suggestion for you single moms, don’t allow yourself to be victimized by on over-commercialized “holiday.” As an aside, did you know that 50% of women surveyed would leave their boyfriends if they didn’t get them anything for Valentine’s Day? At first I thought that shallow but then I remembered the Valentine card my ex gave me when we were dating. “Happy ‘VD’ Day” should have sent a loud and clear message about what direction that relationship needed to take. We live and learn! Make it a great day and do so without inventing a Valentine or, sending yourself flowers from your faux love. Seriously!! Source

Nigeria Boko Haram crisis: ‘Borno needs more troops’

Image
The governor of the north-eastern Nigerian state of Borno has called for more troops to be deployed to combat Boko Haram Islamist militants. Kashim Shettima was speaking during a visit to the town of Konduga, where 39 died in an attack on Tuesday. A mosque and more than 1,000 homes were also razed to the ground, residents said. Boko Haram has been conducting a four-year campaign of violence to push for Islamic rule in northern Nigeria. Last May, President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency in Borno and the neighbouring states of Adamawa and Yobe in a bid to stop their insurgency. But the BBC’s Will Ross in Nigeria says the military is once again facing criticism for not doing more to protect the people of the north-east and failing to detect and attack another convoy of Boko Haram militants. ‘Better motivated’ An eyewitness in Konduga, about 35km (22 miles) from the Borno state capital Maiduguri, said the militants arrived in many vehicles, planted a bl...

Mr. Jang said this in an address at a one day consultative forum with likely delegates from the North Central that would represent the region at the proposed National Conference. Mr. Jang lamented that the middle belt had suffered neglect by past administrations due to lack of unity among citizens of the zone. “If we unite God will anoint, the next president after Jonathan from the middle belt, so (we) must prepare to produce the next president after Jonathan,” he said. Mr. Jang blamed the current challenges facing the zone as well as the entire country on an older living generation that held leadership positions both in the states and at national level. “We of the older generation might not have done well, but for the fact that we are on our way out with one leg ...

Image
Despite Android holding the majority of the mobile market share, enterprise users are overwhelmingly comprised of iOS devices. A report by Good Technology, which is a company that provides secure usage software for enterprise users, revealed the numbers. iOS activations made up 73 percent of total device activations in Q4, up from 72 percent in Q3 and 69 percent in Q2 of 2013. Android activations decreased one percentage point quarter over quarter and came in at 26 percent of total device activations. The number of iPhones activated came in at 54%, with iPads comprising 19% of activated devices. Compared to the number of Android Tablets activated, which was just 8.6%, iOS is looking pretty dominant. However, Good’s reports should be taken with a grain of salt. Their studies don’t include Blackberry devices, which are still very much in use in the corporate world. Also excluded from Good’s findings are users who use Google apps, so that leaves out a potentially significant...
