Former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), yesterday, said it remained a mystery how he survived the bomb attack on his convoy in Kaduna on Wednesday. This came as former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida; former Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, yesterday, joined several other Nigerians and organizations in condemning the suicide attack on Buhari. They described it as a dangerous development. Meanwhile, Governor Mukhtar Yero of Kaduna State has lifted the 24-hour curfew imposed on the city following the bomb attacks. 82 persons died in the twin bomb explosions targeted at General Buhari and an Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi. They both escaped unhurt. Nasarawa Impeachment: Speaker, 5 Lawmakers In Secret Meeting With Jonathan .

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday met behind closed-doors with six members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly. The meeting was believed to be the President’s way of intervening in the impeachment process that the lawmakers had instituted against the state Governor, Tanko Al-Makura. Al-Makura had met with the President over the weekend in his bid to stop his removal from office. The members of the assembly who met with Jonathan on Thursday were led by their Speaker, Musa Muhammed. The Deputy National Chairman, South, of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, also joined in the meeting. The National Chairman, Adamu Muazu, is currently on lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia. Muhammed, however, told State House correspondents at the end of the parley that the meeting was a private one.
